Another crazy edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna it’s over and my mission right there is always to find the most interesting (new and not) brands around the globe, especially about make-up. So which are the best makeup brands at Cosmoprof 2023?
Among the 90000 square meters exhibition, in Cosmoprof Perfumery and Cosmetics you can find an undefined amount of skincare proposals but makeup it’s always fewer, so it’s really challenging to find something that you haven’t seen yet, but let’s see what happened this year!
I used to start my journey in Bologna from Cosmoprime, the place where I love to see beauty jewels and new entries, and I was more than happy to meet the incredible Blondesister founder Carolina Amirfeiz! Maybe if you’re an italian reader you already know the lilac company because, in just more than 3 years, the brand exploded in the motherland, letting beauty lovers fall in love with a “simple” Lip Oil and an extremely versatile mascara!
GOSH Copenhagen is a fixture in Bologna and this year, in addition to the successful makeup range, the brand introduces a professional hair line made of salon sizes and formulation suitable for all hair types.
Spreads professionalism and elegant performances, the French maison 1944 Paris, capable of leaving a mark in my Cosmoprof trip with its hypnotic waving highlighter. But the brand it’s not only having high-quality products and services for beauty salons and professionals, it is a manifesto of women’s strength, and the company name is done on purpose to remind the year when women earned the right to vote in France!
A visual rebranding in progress for Makeup Atelier, who launched a new magnetic palette with a more contemporary logo. Among the powerful and professional approved makeup range stand out their pro lip palettes, an essential piece for every makeup artist bag
Last year I was in Cosmoprof with Mia Cosmetics and 2023 still brings results of my product development job with the new Double Match Eyeshadows, the big news of this edition! 10 micro eye palettes composed of a hyper-pigmented matte eyeshadow and a metal one with matching shade that let create monochrome eye looks just with one little portable palette! The shade range follows natural tones from the lightest champagne shade to black passing through warm and cool brown, gold, copper, pink, taupe and silver colors.
In Bologna for the first time CTZN Cosmetics, a female founded brand with the most inclusive nude lipstick range ever. One side lipstick and hydrating matching lip gloss on the other, with 25 nude tones from the lightest to the darkest ebony, embracing totally the “neutral” lips concept!
And talking about inclusivity, Monika Blunder deeply studied her Blunder Cover Foundation with 20 shades which, combined, can satisfy any skin tone, and on her website shows perfectly how to find the perfect match. But the collection also includes amazing liquid blushes, lip products and high-end make-up brushes!
I was happy to discover another interesting makeup brand, NOTE Cosmetique, inspired by French beauty, one of the few brands who offers a BB cream in more than 10 shades and, of course, totally inclusive foundations and concealer proposal. The most intriguing references?
Character, instead, is the more affordable Viseart sister company, a must-have brand in the Emirates, with a luxury-like pack, and an inclusive offer that lets creativity fly thanks to vibrant shades for artistic make-up looks and versatile palettes.
Being inclusive means also to develop products that can satisfy people always on the run, an this is the Gokos mission, who offer, for the first time, an entire makeup line made of a “pen” concept only and zero palette: eyeshadows are enclosed in little vials and applied directly with the sponge on top of the packaging, easy to carry on even if you want to grab different shades. The same idea is applied on lip products too, creating a full face only with products that we can contain in a pencil holder!
An incredible way to embrace inclusivity is thinking about kids and teenagers, a target that seems to not use makeup but that, in real life, always tries to apply “adult” cosmetics, and mums around the world can confirm! Toot is a natural makeup brand totally dedicated to kids, with a cool packaging and delicate tones to let younger girls and boys experience makeup with safety and fun!
Cosmoprof celebrates innovations in cosmetic industry and this year, for the third time in a row, ELROEL wins the make-up product category with The Blending Compact Cushions, a multitasking product which combines the coverage of foundation and concealer with the power of reinvigorating and highlighting face cream, SPF 50 and active anti-aging ingredients. In the past years the K-beauty brand won thanks to the Blanc Cover Cream Stick (2022) and the Earth Fit Blanc Pat (2019) that I had chance to try and appreciate.
But the real innovation comes from make-up manufacturers and Passage Cosmetics Laboratory S.A. achieves the Makeup Formula Prize for the Glow Vita D activator Body Cream, a particular mix of fructooligosaccharides and beetroot extract capable of activating and increasing Vitamin D production.
It’s a mascara the winner of the Sustainability section, developed by MYC Packaging Innovation Co., LTD, METALLICA MASCARA is’t a luxury mono-material pack made of aluminium blend from fully traceable sources. Even the brush is in aluminium and guarantees performant lash covering from root to tip.
See you next year to discover other incredible make-up revolutions!
